The office of President’s Advisor on Women’s Empowerment and Al-Qasemi Reading Club at Al-Qasemi Academic College of Education organized the 4th international conference on: “Empowerment, Educational Marginalization and Creative Action” that was held on March 8, 2019.
The conference was opened by the president of Al-Qasemi College – College President, Dr. Aida Fahmawi - President’s Advisor on Women’s Empowerment & Head of Al-Qasemi Reading Club, and by Mrs. Youad Ghanadri - Chair of the Board of Directors of Arab Psychologists Association.
The first session of the conference was introduced by Prof. Lara Sheehi – The George Washington University, Prof. Stephen Sheehi – College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, and Dr. Samah Jabir - Head of Mental Health in the Palestinian Ministry of Health. Their lectures discussed different aspects of psychotherapy. Dr. Moustafa Qasqasi - The English Hospital in Nazareth, and member of the Board of Directors of Arab Psychologists Association moderated the first session of the conference.
The second session of the conference was distinguished by a book launch on: “Turbulence, Empowerment and Marginalization in International Education Governance Systems” edited by Dr. Alison Taysum and the president of Al-Qasemi College . Two lectures were introduced in the second session; the first lecture was introduced by the president of Al-Qasemi College on: “Governance in Minoritized Education System: A Global Perspective”, and the second lecture was introduced by Prof. John Portelli – University of Toronto on: “Countering Marginalization in neoliberal/ New Colonial Times: The Role of Empowerment and Subversion”. The moderator of the session was Dr. Wissam Magadley – Professor in Organizational Psychology at Al-Qasemi Academic College of Education.
The third session was introduced by Dr. Ayman Igbariah – Professor and Poet, Mrs. Asmaa Azaiza – Poet, Mr. Suhil Kiwan – Writer, and Mrs. Sheikha Halawi – Poet and Writer. Their lectures discussed literary creativity.
Dr. Samir Khalailty – Professor in Theoretical Linguistics and Dr. Aida Fahmawi moderated the third session.
